Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first person in history to score a 10 for a competition at the Olympics. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics coach who became Comaneci's coach later in life she discovered her when she was six. The first time she competed at the national junior championships in 1969 and finished 13th. She won the competition in 1970. Three gold medals were awarded in her first competition at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 for the communist bloc nations. The following year, 1973 as well as 1974 she won the junior champion in all-round competitions. When she competed for the first time in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals, as well being awarded a silver.
